Clarence T. Huffman, 80, of Kennett Square, died Jan. 18 at the Pocopson Home.
He was the husband of Jean H. Huffman, with whom he shared 51 years of marriage.
Born in Kennett Square, he was a son of the late Wilbur D. and Annie Swayne Huffman.
Mr. Huffman was a technical sergeant in the 5th Air Force and served during
World War II in the South Pacific as a radio operator and gunner on B-24 planes.
He completed 55 missions and was awarded the Air Medal with four oak leaf
clusters.
He worked as a powerhouse operator at NVF of Kennett Square for 46 years.
Mr. Huffman was also a part-time bus driver for the Kennett Area School District
for 22 years.
He enjoyed gardening and was an avid reader. He was a member of the Swayne,
Campbell, Testa VFW Post No. 5467 of Kennett Square.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Lawrence S. of Wilmington; a
daughter, Jeanne A. of Durham, N.C.; a sister Nancy Hillman of Lancaster; four
grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded by a brother, Wilbur D. Huffman. A funeral service was
held this week at the Kuzo & Gofus Funeral Home. Interment was in Longwood
Cemetery in East Marlborough Township.
